Questions on What to Expect & Why Therapy Is Helpful

When should I seek therapeutic counseling?

People seek counseling for many reasons—such as managing stress, navigating life  transitions, improving relationships, or finding clarity during difficult times. If you’ve been  having difficulty coping with daily stressors, recognizing your potential, maintaining work or  home life, engaging with your community, or supporting your emotional well-being for two  weeks or longer, it may be time to consider therapy. Counseling can offer support,  guidance, and practical tools to help you feel more balanced and begin your journey  towards healing.

What can I expect from therapeutic counseling?

At Universal Therapeutic Services, therapy is designed to be a supportive space where  clients can safely explore their concerns, gain insight, and build the tools needed to move  forward. Our therapists listen attentively and use evidence-based approaches—such as  cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused techniques, and mindfulness-based  strategies—to help clients work through challenges.

Therapy is goal-oriented. Together, clients and therapists identify meaningful goals,  develop effective coping skills, and work through emotions and decisions that may feel  overwhelming. The ultimate aim is to equip each person with what they need to feel  confident, capable, and ready to continue their journey beyond therapy—toward lasting  growth and healing.

What about confidentiality?

Universal Therapeutic Services adheres to strict confidentiality guidelines in accordance with HIPAA. We maintain the privacy of all information disclosed during counseling sessions. However, we are obligated by law to report any information related to potential harm to oneself or others, as well as instances of child or incapacitated adult abuse. Rest assured that all other information will remain strictly confidential.

Where will we meet?

Our physical office is conveniently located at 103 Lydia Street, Greenville, SC 29605 for in person appointments. Additionally, we offer teletherapy services for those interested in  therapy via phone call or video call. We aim to meet our clients where they are and also  offer clinical support in school, work, or other confidential community settings. These  options provide a flexible and convenient way to receive counseling services from the  comfort of your own home or office.
